Drama Club with Ms. Philipak

In Drama Club, we perform a fractured fairy tale in the Spring. Drama Club is open to 4th and 5th graders. In Drama Club, we will also be doing many other fun activities including:  learning about drama/acting in general, having a stage make-up day, acting games, set, scenery and prop building, learning about sound and lights – and many other activities!!

This club has a limited number of spots and you must fill out the attached questionnaire.

The questions on the form will help me to determine who the most responsible students will be for drama club.  Please turn your form in NO LATER THAN Wednesday, September 6thFifth graders who were in drama last year will be given a high preference to get in drama again this year – BUT YOU HAVE TO STILL TURN THE FORM IN!

Once I have received all the questionnaires, I will pick 30-35 students to be in this exciting club! Scripts will be handed out at our very first meeting on September 18th and we will be discussing HOW TO AUDITION.  Auditions will be held the week of September 24th!!  This club meets mostly on Tuesday mornings before school at 7:45 – 8:30 a.m and on Thursday afternoons 3:45– 4:45 p.m.  in Room 28.  Our performance date is March 29th. There will be characters that have many lines and some that have just a few lines.  There will also be parts for stage crew, make-up artists, costumes, set design, and sound crew.  There will be $5 in dues to join this club.  This money will all be used to pay the royalties on the play that we will perform.  Do not send the money at this time.  Please wait until you are notified that your child was one of those that are selected!

So, if you are interested in being a part of the TWIN CHIMNEYS DRAMA CLUB – please fill out the attached form and RETURN it to Mrs. Philipak as soon as possible and NO LATER than Wednesday, September 6thYou will get a letter that confirms that you are in Drama Club!!!  Once you receive this letter, you need to come to our first meeting.  All members of this Club need to bring a 1” 3-ring binder with them to all rehearsalsBinders should have a pencil and a highlighter in them.  (Colors of the binders do not matter.)  Please have your name written on the SPINE of the binder!!

PLEASE post the schedule on your refrigerator or somewhere that you can always refer to it.  PLEASE make sure that your child can attend all of our dates on the schedule. Please don’t schedule routine doctor/dentist/orthodontist appointments on Drama days. Kids with speaking parts need to be at EVERY rehearsal unless they are sick and not at school that day. From February 1st on, our rehearsals will be from 3:45 – 6:00 p.m.  We WILL be performing at West High school on Friday, March 29th.  We will have dress rehearsals there on Monday-Friday, the week of March 25th from 4-7 p.m. Parents MUST drive students to West High and students MUST be picked up on time. Also, on our performance day on March 29th, we will be going straight over to the high school after school and will stay straight through to the performance – we will have dinner at the high school!  Finally, sometimes dates do change due to various metings or snow days. Kids with speaking parts need to be at all of these rehearsals. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Philipak at 636-240-0093.
