Discover the Leader in You-Love, Learn, Lead

Welcome to the second semester! It is our hope that you and your family had a wonderful, restful break. We are so very proud of all of the accomplishments our students, staff and families made over the first half of this school year, and excited for what's to come this semester. During our first week(s) back our teachers will spend time as a class reviewing classroom expectations, guidelines and focusing on building relationships. As we do each year, the administrators will be visiting all classrooms for our second semester review of expectations.

With our colder weather here, if the district were to call school due to inclement weather, the first two inclement weather days would be traditional snow days. There would not be any remote work for these traditional snow days, and these days would need to be made up at the end of the school year. If there are any additional inclement weather days after the first two, then we would use our Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) days. AMI Packets were sent home last month and can be found online. During AMI days, teachers and specialists will be in contact with you.

Our new parent pickup process has been in effect for a bit now. Thank you for your patience and collaboration in ensuring we are providing the safest dismissal possible. Please remember to stay in the car line if you are picking your child up and just a reminder that the buses utilize the middle aisle, so it is important that this area is clear.

We continue to focus on the safety and education of all of our students and we thank you for all your continued support! We are better together!

Spelling Bee

We had four fourth grade students & three fifth grade students representing TCE in this years spelling bee: Levi Frost, Vivaan Vonga, Mario Smith, Ananya Tangatur, Roshan Petronius, Aarit Pothina & Adilynn Saunders. Our first place winner (middle) is Roshan Petronius. He will be representing TCE in our district wide spelling bee, this month.

Be prepared for inclement weather

As the cold weather approaches, we would like to stress the importance of students wearing the appropriate winter outerwear. Our goal is to have students go outside for
recess whenever possible. Students should come to school
wearing a winter jacket, gloves, scarves, hat, etc.

Should Fort Zumwalt call school due to inclement weather during the 2021-2022 school year, the first TWO instances will be traditional snow days. There will not be any remote work for the first TWO days of school canceled due to weather. The days will have to be made up at the end of the school year.

Should the district need to call any other days due to inclement weather, we will make use of the Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) days provided through state law. This will mean that students and teachers will work remotely and that the days will not have to be made up at the end of the school year. We can do this for up to five inclement weather days. Families of students grades Pre-K - 5 have packets on hand at home for use on these days. They are also available to print at go.FZSD.us/AMIDays.

Families should expect an email from the teacher in the morning that will lay out the class expectations for the day, packet information and due date. Teachers should also share tips for parents/guardians in case a student struggles with any of the material. Teachers will be available to parents/guardians via email throughout the school day. Some might offer additional virtual activities or work virtually with students who need assistance.

As the weather shifts in the coming months, please be sure your contact information is current in the parent portal. FZSD notifies families of inclement weather closures through our notification system by phone call, text message for those who have opted in, email, and push notification for those who have downloaded our app. To opt in for texts:
